Sean Kissell
Sean Kissell is the owner and head strength coach at Total Fitness in Newport News, VA. With over two decades of experience, he has trained athletes across multiple sports, including Baseball, Football, Lacrosse, Field Hockey, Softball, Basketball, Wrestling, and Track and Field. Many of his athletes have earned state and All-American titles, with numerous clients advancing to compete at the collegiate level.
In addition to sports performance coaching, Sean, alongside Keli Hamman, leads the Total Fitness competitive powerlifting team, which has set multiple State, National, and World records. His expertise in strength and conditioning stems from a lifelong dedication to fitness, beginning his journey in 2001 after serving in the United States Navy. Through his leadership, Total Fitness has become a premier destination for athletes seeking elite-level training and performance development.

KELI HAMMAN
Keli Hamman is a personal trainer and strength coach who specializes in working with novice lifters, helping them build foundational strength and confidence, often guiding them toward their first steps into competitive powerlifting. With a deep understanding of how to progress new athletes safely and effectively, Keli has coached numerous lifters who have gone on to set records and compete on the international stage.
Keli’s own journey into powerlifting began not in athletics, but in recovery. After a shoulder injury, her doctor recommended strength training to support the long-term health of her joint. That advice led her to Total Fitness and into the coaching of Sean Kissell, an experience that changed the course of her life and career.
Keli is an elite-level powerlifter, Open and Master’s North American Champion. She holds over 30 records, including three world record squats, and brings that same passion, discipline, and knowledge to her work with others. She is a Level 2 USPA Powerlifting Coach, trained under the USPA Team USA coaching staff, and also serves as a USPA referee and Co-State Chair for Virginia.
Dedicated to fostering confidence through strength, Keli believes in the transformative power of this sport. Her mission is to help others discover their potential, build resilience, and find strength they never knew they had, both in and out of the gym.
