TOTAL FITNESS CLUB
Our doors first opened in the late 1950’s as “Health Club Spa” and we have been here ever since. Edward Kissell purchased the club from Herman McCloud in 1989 and the name was changed to Total Fitness. We are the oldest gym in the tidewater area, and have been home to NFL and NBA players, Olympic lifting champs, pro-wrestlers, powerlifters, bodybuilders, and even a world champion arm wrestler.
We have helped our members lose hundreds of pounds, get in shape for military service and schools. Prepared others for collegiate sports including wrestling, track and field, football, basketball, tennis and more! We may not be the prettiest gym around, and we may not have the fancy pants equipment, but we do have over 50 years of experience and tradition, and most of all, we know how to get the job done!
Sean is an IFPA (International Fitness Professional Association) certified trainer, AAU and USA coach who took a team to the 2015 AAU Junior olympics powerlifting competition. Sean started his interest in fitness while serving in the USN as a hospital corpsman, since then he has helped many reach their fitness goals from athletes working towards highschool and college sports to the average person looking to improve their well being. Sean also serves as the JV wrestling coach at Peninsula Catholic High and a fitness instructor at RSA (Renaissance School of the Arts). Sean is ready to push you to be your best!

Ervin has been a part of our gym family since 2008, and has been a driving force keeping numerous clients on track to achieving their goals. Whether he is running a boot blast session, training athletes or a one on one session Ervin is our best fitness motivator pushing his clients to be their best. You can not go wrong having him in your corner, but be ready to work!

Hassan has been in the fitness industry for over 3 years and is currently pursuing his bachelors in health and physical education at Norfolk State University. Hassan incorporates many different styles into his workouts including body weight, plyometrics, agility and more. Hassan is an avid competitor participating in several marathons and other races he has also competed in Crossfit, boxing, martial arts, basketball and track. Hassan is ready to train you with great enthusiasm to find your hidden strengths and all with a smile!
